LIFE LATELY [12.13.23]

I’m sharing a little Life Lately. It’s a little of what we are doing, what we are eating, what we are wearing and a little bit of whatever else is on my mind all in one post.

We had such a fun Thanksgiving week with Mama J (my mom)! On Friday after Thanksgiving, we had planned to go see Trolls with a few of Korben’s friends to celebrate, but we had a crazy snow storm instead. Thankfully it’s pretty easy to pivot with a four year old so we rescheduled and played in the snow! On his birthday, we loaded up the car in our pajamas and went to Shipley’s for birthday donuts. Then we just had a fun family day at home and it was perfection.

Since then, we’ve been in FULL ON Christmas mode! We went to see Santa and there were NO tears, which is a first for our favorite four year old. We kicked off our 24 Days of Christmas Books and the boys love their Lego Advent calendars every night. Honestly this season has been SO sweet with both of the boys. Jack still believes in Santa and Korben is in full-on-holiday-mode 24 hours a day.

After our dog passed away in June, we had thrown around the idea of getting the boys puppies for Christmas. We had been looking, but hadn’t found anything within our budget so we decided we would wait till summer. Best laid plans, right?! We stopped looking and the perfect pair of Australian Shepherd puppies landed in our laps. We surprised the boys with them at the beginning of the month and will get to bring them home right after Christmas. So let me introduce you to Duke and Ranger!

Last week was packed full of holiday fun! First with Korben’s preschool Christmas concert, where we stood on stage and did not sing one.single.note. Not a one. BUT he did mouth, “I have to go potty,” to me approximately 25 times. The only thing I could think was that he was going to be the kid who had an accident on the stage! Thankfully, we all made it through and rushed to the potty as soon as they were finished.

On Thursday, we had our Mom’s Group Christmas Party! It was the BEST time. We set up a photo booth, wore Christmas pajamas, had a themed board contest and did an ornament exchange. 10/10 recommend having an over-the-top Christmas party with your best girlfriends, every single year!

We finished the week with Jack’s school performance, where, unlike his little brother, he danced and swayed and sang his little heart out!

This season has been so sweet, but also really busy. I’ve been doing quick and easy meals….lots of crockpot dinners and a new family favorite BBQ Chicken Pinwheels. This weekend I made a big batch of Granola Bars for the boys to snack on this week! These are great because they have no nuts and you don’t have to bake them. So I can whip them up pretty quickly!

I pretty much have two looks…..joggers and leggings!

I grabbed these New Balance Sneakers over cyber week and they are SO comfortable! I’ve also been loving this shirt extender. I like my booty covered and this has helped me feel more confidant when I’m wearing sweaters or shirts that don’t fully get the job done!

This week last year we celebrated Korben’s birthday with a friend party at our favorite indoor play place. Our boy loves his people SO big!

We were also deep in the throws of trying to decide what to do for schooling for Jack during the 2nd semester of first grade. We knew he couldn’t stay where he was and we had REALLY big decisions to make about what that looked like for the future. We decided to homeschool him for the Spring semester and it was the best decision we made. We were able to get him caught up and he is now THRIVING in an amazing charter school!

I saw this on Instagram the other day and it helped me take a big breath, in the midst of a crazy-wonderful-sometimes overwhelming season. I LOVE the age my boys are at. It has made this Christmas season SO sweet and fun. I’m soaking in every minute that I can and reminding myself that the “stuff” they open on Christmas morning is just a tiny blip in the memories we are making this holiday season!

Here’s what’s in my cart this week!

We decided it was the perfect time for Jack to get a big boy bible, so we are giving that to him for Christmas.

My Mom’s Group is going to start Nothing to Prove in January for our Thursday night groups. I’m super excited about this study and love that it has short videos included!

I grabbed these blank sketchbooks for the boys to use in the car when we travel to Texas in a few weeks. They love to draw and play stickers, so these will be perfect!

I have been eyeing this mini waffle maker for a while and LOVE the interchangeable holiday plates!
