WEAR IT WEDNESDAY {05.04.22}

Happy Wednesday!
This week I’m doing something new for Wear It Wednesday. A few weeks ago one of my very best friends from childhood called me and said she is going to New York City for a weekend in May and would be seeing THREE Broadway shows. She wanted me to come up with some outfit ideas for each of the shows and I was all in!

I have known Cindy since we were in 4th grade. She was always in dance and theatre growing up and I was the one she called to do her hair and makeup for recitals and shows. She was also the maid of honor in my wedding and just one of my dearest, dearest friends.

This is a picture of us from high school before one of her dance recitals (almost 20 years ago!!).

First up is Plaza Suite. I didn’t know anything about this show, so I did a little research and found out that the setting of the entire play is the Plaza Hotel. I chose a very sophisticated combination for this show. I am in love with this A-Line Dress with the Floral Embroidered Overlay. I paired it with an ankle strap low block chunky heel. I wanted the accessories to pull from some of the colors in the floral embroidery, so I chose a yellow envelope clutch and emerald square studs. A silky pashmina wrap is the perfect way to complete this look.

Next up is Funny Girl! Barbara Streisand originally made Funny Girl famous in the 60s, so I thought that this show needed a look with a retro feel. I love this floral dress from Target, it’s feminine with the floral print and ruffled hem and the high statement collar gives it a very 60s feel. I paired it with a chic pair of mules, a basket weave woven crossbody that pulls out the green in the dress and a simple pair of geometric drop earrings.

Last up is Moulin Rouge. I felt that this show needed an edgy, sexy look. I am obsessed with this floral bustier midi dress, the tiered ruffle hem makes me want to dance to the music of Moulin Rouge! I paired it with a pair of pink cross strap chunky heel sandals, a lattice embossed crossbody bag and a feminine flower hoop earring. The black pashmina from the first outfit will pair perfectly with this dress in case it’s chilly.

Mother’s Day is this weekend!! If you need a last minute gift, I’ve got a handful of gift guides for you that should still make it in time!
