JANUARY BEAUTY RECAP
January is running out of days faster than I can keep up!
I’ve tried several new makeup and skincare items this month as well as my tried and true favorites and am breaking them all down for you here in my January Beauty Recap.
I typically wear the same base products (primer, concealer, foundation) and then switch up eyeshadows, lips and mascara. I’m linking all of the products below for you!
Let’s chat skincare! Prior to my first child, I gave skincare very little thought. I used a generic face wash in the shower and applied a generic moisturizer before bed. Pregnancy and post=partum and a move from Texas to Colorado did a NUMBER on my skin and one day I told my husband that I had to invest in my skincare. He didn’t understand but gave me the greenlight and I started my skincare journey.
I’m going to do a whole post on my skincare routine and products I love, but I wanted to share this one because the “double cleanse” has made one of the biggest differences in my skincare.
What is a double cleanse? It means that you use something to remove your makeup before cleansing your face with face wash.
Why is this important? Your face wash is not meant to be a makeup remover, it is full of all the good stuff to clean and treat your skin. In order to get all of the benefits of your cleanser, you need to clear anything off of your face that would create a barrier between your cleanser and skin.
There are many types of makeup remover, but the one I love the most is the Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm. I apply the balm and work it in a circular motion all over my face, it just melts everything away. Then I use a wet clean cloth (I like these) to remove the makeup from my face. Now that my face is rid of makeup, my cleanser can really soak in to clear and clean my skin!
I have to mention that the cleansing balm isn’t only for removing makeup. I have alot more skincare days than I do makeup day, so this is a great tool to clear off any sweat or sunscreen too!
