WHATEVER WEDNESDAY {05/24/23}

You made it to Wednesday, my friend! Today is Whatever Wednesday. It’s a little of what we are doing, what we are eating, what we are wearing and a little bit of whatever else is on my mind all in one post.

We have had a jjjjaaaammmm packed few weeks!

Korben’s preschool had the sweetest Mother’s Day breakfast. He was so proud to show me the gifts he made and I just love seeing him interact with all of his little friends. We’ve been at the same preschool for 6 years, 4 with Jack and now 2 with Korben. The teachers and staff are just so precious and I love how much both of my boys have loved it there!

On Mother’s Day Weekend, Jack had his first Cub Scout promotion ceremony. To see the pride and joy on his face when he received his badges and promoted to the next level, was all this Mama heart needed for Mother’s Day. The other thing I loved about the promotion ceremony was watching Korben cheer on Jack and his friends. Anytime someone clapped, he jumped in and cheered them on with all of his heart.

We got all of our lettuce from our Winter Sowing planted in the rain gutters. I still have lots of seedlings to get out but we’ve had a ton of rain, so the progress has been a little slow on that.

The boys helped make cupcakes for daddy’s birthday…there was way more frosting on their faces than on the cupcakes. Last night we had a little break in the rain and were able to just enjoy our backyard.

While it’s been a busy few weeks, it’s been FULL of lots of time with my boys!

I shared two new recipes on the blog that are always great to have on hand for snacking!
The boys absolutely love my Nut Free No Bake Granola Bars and because it’s nut free I can send it with them to school too!

My No Bake Hot Crackers are always on hand for snacking. They are a great road trip or pool side snack for summer!

The boys have finally gotten to wear some of the Spring clothes and I just think they are the cutest. I know my years of dressing the boys alike are dwindling, but I’m going to soak it in as long as I can. Carter’s has lots of options for matching clothing across baby, toddler and kid’s sizes. I love these polos. They had similar ones last year and they held up SO well through the summer. Their matching low-top sneakers are from Amazon and they love them!

I thought Korben looked so big in outfit for school. His shorts and tee are from Target. They are Cat and Jack - which I almost buy exclusively now because of their amazing exchange policy! I had a box of Cat and Jack clothes and shoes the boys had outgrown and got a gift card back for $150. Seriously amazing!

This week, last year, we celebrated Kindergarten graduation for Jack! It was also Sean’s 40th birthday and I planned a big surprise party for him…..then it snowed 10 inches. I had planned to have the party outside in the backyard, so we just moved it inside and had so much fun!

I love each season of the year for different reasons.

I love how Fall is ushered in with bright changing leaves and crisp, cool days.

I love Winter for its pillowy snow and warm cozy nights snuggled on the couch with my boys.

I love Spring for its hope and promise of new life.

However, I think I love summer most of all. As a kid, summer was the best. School was out and that meant endless sleepovers and pool days with friends. As a mom, summer is still the best but for different reasons. I love watching summer through my boy’s eyes. The adventure that they create, the way they soak up the sun and laugh endlessly while swinging on the playground. Eating smores around the fire pit and watching for lightening bugs. I just want to soak in every single magical moment!

Here’s what’s in my Amazon cart this week!

We went back and forth on building planters or using some type of grow bag for our larger plants (tomatoes, squash, peppers). We decided this year that it would be more economical to use the grow bags. I planted out in the last night and am already SO impressed. Mainly I didn’t want them to look “junky” in the yard and I’m happy to report that they do not!

I have lots of low back pain from a tailbone injury in college. I’ve been using a pillow between my legs for a while and it has helped, but my massage therapist recommended a wedge, so I’m going to try it out.

I’ve been wanting to redo the furniture in our guest room for a while, but I really haven’t wanted to drag it all outside, strip the paint and repaint it. So I’m going to use peel and stick wallpaper instead! I did this on the top of one of the kid’s dressers and really like how it turned out.

I ordered the kitchen aid shaved ice attachment for my mixer and can’t wait for it to get here! I was trying to figure out the best way to make the syrup and found these concentrates that you mix with sugar and hot water. They have fantastic reviews and a really good price compared to gallons of snow cone syrup.
