HUBBY’S 40th BIRTHDAY

This weekend we celebrated my sweet husband’s 40th birthday with a surprise “May the Fourties Be With You” Party! When I started planning his party, I enlisted the help of one of our dearest friends who was going to take him to the gun range for target practice on Saturday afternoon, while I got everything set up in the backyard to BBQ and for the kids to play. It was going to be a beautiful, almost-summertime party.

The best made plans…..am I right? Because of course we had a SNOW STORM. In MAY! It starting snowing on Friday morning and by Saturday morning we had about 12 inches of snow in our backyard. On top of that, our sweet friend who was going to be our decoy to get Sean out of the house, works for the Electrical Company and had been out responding to power outages since 3 AM.

I refused to let any of it stress me out, I just had to pivot and come up with some different plans. Thankfully, the weather had been very warm for the past two weeks, so the roads were already melted by around noon! I knew there were 6 families coming and between us there were 12 kids. I decided we would just send the big kids upstairs to play between Jack’s room and the playroom and the toddlers could stay downstairs with the adults and play in the living room.

All of the decorations and food were Star Wars Themed. I’ll share links to all of the printables and recipes I used below.

The surprise was mostly thwarted about 20 minutes before the party started because he was home and could hear people downstairs, but there wasn’t alot of getting around that. It was total chaos, but it was perfect and we got to celebrate my sweet hubby, regardless of what the weather decided it was going to do!

Most of the food recipes came from Pinterest, as I was looking for “Star Wars Themed” food and I wanted to try out a few new things!

I got all of the printables from Darling Custom Prints on Etsy. They were editable, so I was able to change the titles for some of the food printables.

For food we had:

”Vader Ade” - Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade Punch (1 bottle Simply Strawberry Lemonade, 1 liter Sprite, 1 bottle Pineapple Juice)
