MONTE CRISTO SANDWICH PINWHEELS

Baked Sandwich Pinwheels are perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. They are one of my go-to recipes on busy activity nights because start to finish they take less than 30 minutes. All you need is a roll of crescent dough or pizza dough and your toppings of choice.

There are also SO many variations that you could make, so I’ve listed a few ideas below.

Baked Sandwich Pinwheels Variations
Ham and Cheese
Turkey and Cheese
Mozzarella, Canadian Bacon and Pineapple
Chicken Parmesan (Shredded Chicken, Mozzarella and Pasta Sauce)

Instructions

  1. Roll out your dough. I used crescent rolls because that’s what I had on hand. I just try to pinch the seams together really well.
  2. Spread your jam across the entire dough. I used strawberry jam.
  3. Layer the meat and cheese. For this pinwheel I used swiss cheese and turkey. Typically monte cristo sandwiches have ham as well, but we didn't have any on hand and I loved the way that it turned out with just swiss, turkey and strawberry jam.
  4. Tightly roll your pinwheels. I rolled them horizontally so that I could get more slices.
  5. Slice the pinwheels your desired thickness and place upright on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar!
