RAINY DAY IDEAS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
Rainy days are part of life and they always seem to come at the worst possible time, especially when your family is looking to enjoy sunny weather! With the rain putting a damper on possible days out or family trips, you need to try to come up with some of the best ideas that will help you to keep the kids busy and ensure the whole family is occupied and entertained as much as possible.
In this blog post, we are going to look at some of the best ways to spend time together as a family and how you can bond over activities and games, while staying dry from the rain.
PLAY BOARD GAMES
Playing board games is one of the best things that you can do to improve your family dynamic and this is a great chance to introduce your kids to classic board games they might not have heard of before. This is something that represents a great way of being able to spend time together and enjoy a fun and competitive activity that is going to help occupy your time and provide some respite from the rain outside. Board games are fun, interesting, competitive, and can be a great way to spend time together as a family.
ENJOY MOVIES AND SHOWS
One of the most popular ways to keep occupied as a family during bad weather is to sit down and enjoy some of your favorite movies and TV shows. Whether you are wanting to have a family movie night or you’re wanting to know rewatch Friends for the 100th time (here’s how to watch Friends on Hulu}, there are a million possibilities for what to watch that will make the whole family happy!
DO SOME BAKING
Baking is a great way to prepare and make a delicious treat and it’s something that the whole family can get involved with. Before you get started, take stock of your child’s maturity level and skill level to determine the best way for them to participate. The great thing about baking is there should be plenty for even young kids to do! Whether it’s kneading, rolling, shaping, or decorating, there are loads of different baking options you need to keep in mind. You could bake cakes, muffins, biscuits, cookies, brownies, and more and there are loads of great tips for baking with your kids.
DO SOME CHORES TOGETHER
Another thing you could do is to sneakily use the rain as a way of engaging your kids in helping tidy the house by making it into family bonding time. You can make it a competition between age groups or genders or an opportunity to teach a child a new skill!
BUILD A FORT
One of my favorite childhood memories and a favorite of my boys on a rainy day is to build a fort. This is one of the most fun things you can do when it comes to boosting your family bonding time. Let your kids imaginations run wild with blankets, duvets, cushions and pillows. They are all building blocks for a memorable fort. Building a fort is something that helps your kids get creative, burn off some energy, and make some great memories together.
When the weather lets up, throw on some rainboots and play in the mud! Clothes can be washed and bodies can be showered off, but I promise it will become a core memory for your family.
