TEACHING TUESDAY [10.03.23]
Welcome to Teaching Tuesday! If you are new here, I’m a former teacher, have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and am now a homeschool mom. You can read more about that journey here.
Every Tuesday I’m going to share an at home learning idea for preschool and elementary age kids, new curriculum resources and a freebie or two!
Last week I shared some ideas for scissor practice and developing that fine motor school in preschoolers. This week combines cutting skills with letter recognition!
When preschoolers are learning their name, it’s important to expose them to letters in many different mediums. This week we were working on finding the first letter of our name in magazines. Then we used our scissor skills to cut those letters out (which is a pretty difficult task due to the bilateral coordination needed to do such a task, so it’s ok to help when needed!) and then glue them onto a paper.
You could take it a step further and have the child count how many of their first initial they were able to find!
You can purchase the units above through my Teachers Pay Teachers store by clicking the photos.
These 4 units are also available in my VIP PASS (OCTOBER 2023), a low cost monthly subscription for new curriculum resources (or save 15% on a yearly subscription with code VIP15). Once you are a member you have access to all previous VIP PASS curriculum downloads as well, forever!
