TEACHING TUESDAY [11.07.23]
Welcome to Teaching Tuesday! If you are new here, I’m a former teacher, have a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and am now a homeschool mom. You can read more about that journey here.
Every Tuesday I’m going to share an at home learning idea for preschool and elementary age kids, new curriculum resources and a freebie or two!
Letter practice can come in many different forms! One of our favorite ways to practice letters is in the kitchen while I’m making dinner. I keep a little notebook and box of letter stickers that they can pull out. I buy the sheets of letter stickers and then cut them up and throw them in the box so that they are all mixed up!
I started this practice the summer before Jack started the 4’s class at his preschool, so we were working on the letters of his name. Then once school started, we worked on whatever letter and number they were practicing in class that week.
Write the letter really big on one page of the notebook. Then let them dig through the letter bucket to find the matching letter.
This activity is great for practicing fine motor skills, letter discrimination and one to one correspondance.
These 4 units are also available in my VIP PASS (NOVEMBER 2023), a low cost monthly subscription for new curriculum resources (or save 25% on a yearly subscription with code VIP25). Once you are a member you have access to all previous VIP PASS curriculum downloads as well, forever!
The units above are also available through my Teachers Pay Teachers store by clicking the photos.
